I have got loads of stuff from Luzern,
new and refurb, mostly no problems, combine shipping is good.

just to beware on high value items , tv's, that 3 mth is a very short warrenty on a refurb which by it title already has had a problem.

I bought a refub archos which I returned under warranty and then the second one had same problem and eventually got a refund minus postage, ebay fees and also lost about 40 euro as I had paid in sterling. Their comms are awful but
there are bound to be problems when they are that busy. I may use again if the item was the right price

i'm in a similiar boat - i was bidding on a very similiar telly for around €450 when i noticed they were refurbished - what does everyone reckon, i'm looking for a 32in-42in lcd flatscreen with a buget max of around €450 - would anyone have better recommendations

i saw that DID were selling an Elonex 37in for €359 in their sale so that could possibly be good? or they were doing a basic samsung 42in plasma for €499

    any thoughts?

Samsung 42 in DID Model number PS42B451B for €499 is/was excellent in my view. Picks up the RTE DTT channels perfectly on an indoor aerial, I think the picture quality is very good, seems to be a 2009 model and this price is at least €150 cheaper than anything online, well done DID for offering such a good TV at a competetive price. I purchased one on Saturday and am very happy with it.

As far as i am aware there is no pick up option available.

I have been told this by a friend who frequent buys from them.

£5 appears to be the pick-up price on all TV's or £2 on small items like MP3 players. Delivery price depends on size of the item - £45 for delivery on large TV's (32" +) or £8.50 for 26" and below.

    All prices are in Sterling

Have previously bought refurbished MP3 players off them without any problems. Some negative feedback out there so I'm not sure about spending a lot of money on a TV with just three months warranty.

One big issue appears to be they delivery cost (up to £45 on a TV) is not refunded if item needs to be returned.

You got ripped big time, its NOT even FULL HD!.

Its HD ready and capable of recieving FULL HD.

Its also a refurb and only comes with 3 months warranty.

So as the other lads have been saying for around the €500 mark you could have got a brand new samsung/lg in the likes of DID etc... and with a 3 Yr warranty.

lol such fail in this post. It is full HD, you can come and check it out if you wish with the PS3 or 360 playing.

I know it's a refurb, €450 is a bargain, I don't really care about warranty to be honest as the tele was already broken and fixed.

Yeah you can pick it up for a fiver in Blanch. Also you can't get a full 42inch HD in DID for €500, not 42' anyway.

What does everyone think of the Grundig in Powercity? My mum was getting one today and I wanted to know if it was ok?

TPD, yes Ebuyer do deliver to ROI (£13.44), use Google checkout (Gmail account), the price is now €285.02 inclusive.

Onearmedbandit, I think this Grundig is the GU32DP not GU32HD as on the PowerCity web site. It's on the Amazon UK web site at £430, so it looks like the PowerCity quoted RRP of €500 is about right. It's a brand name TV with a genuine 40% reduction, sounds good to me.

    Product info: http://www.grundig.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?pid=GU32DP&language=en-GB

I'm thinking of getting one of these this week too, did your Mum get one in the end? If so, what's it like?? Thanks!

Yep very good crystal clear with NTL digital too.

We were cheeky and asked the clerk for a further discount and she got snotty saying "at €299 I don't think so" worth a try anyway.

Only one SCART socket though but is grand for my mum or you can just get an adapter if u have multiple uses.

Just a quick update since the TV lasted a whole two weeks.

Their CS was pretty good so I'm dropping it up on Wednesday for a refund then off to DID to get something new.

ouch... but better for it to fail soon than three months time :)
have bought a few things from this seller, no major problem... one item was never sent and took a while to get money back.

What exactly went wrong with it btw?

Picture went; sound is still working so I’d say that was the original fault. Shame though as Gears of War 2 looked amazing on it :D

I've bought 3x 47" + 1x32" lcd tv from them.........no problems whatsoever. The last 47" tv was bought for ~€700 before xmas and the exact same model was on sale in a local electrical store for €1899!!

    BEWARE OF LUZERN
I bought an Infocus refurbished projector for €900 from them four years ago.
The projector was faulty and it took me nearly two years to get a full refund.I bought the item on ebay and send multiple emails to them without reply. As they are based in Blanchardstown I decided to call out to them.
They weren't able to deal with me at the factory but gave me a name and email address of a person who with sort me out with a refund. Initially the girl did answer my emails but when I told her I wanted a refund instead
of another projector she then stopped corresponding with me.After another year sending emails without reply,I then got my sister who is a solicitor to send a letter threatening legal action.ONLY THEN did I get my full refund.
Dealing with Luzern was the worst retail experience I've ever had in my life.:(

Yes but when I made a complaint through Paypal they closed it off straight away without any action because it was after three months.

    Hi there,
I also purchased that same model Philips 42" HD TV from the same firm via e-bay last June 2008, 14 months ago.
The first delivered Philips 42" HD unit had HD problems on arrival & they took weeks to collect & process the return faulty unit. At the time last summer of 2008, they would not allow purchasers to collect & return purchases, but charged UK.£45 each way.

Six weeks later I got a replacement Philips 42" HD TV higher model, by paying the extra higher difference to Lurzern. This 2nd delivered higher model Philips 42" HD unit had HD & picture quality problems on arrival.
Lurzen would not allow me to return it in person & took another full month to collect it, well into September 2008, from first purchase in June 2008.

Lurzen took until October 2008 to get back to me, first claiming that they had received the TV back at all (from their courier) & then later claiming that there was no fault at all with the TV. They would only agree to send the same unrepaired, faulty Philips 42" HD TV back to me at my delivery expence, GB.£45.00 , Full-Stop communications from Lurzen.

Now at here I am in the middle of August 2009, 14 months later, and I am out of pocket by EURO.€690 from June 2008.
Lurzen (Tech) have ignored my repeted communications & I am left with no other choice by to go down the legal route to get my paid out money refunded from this shower.

All of this totally unnecessary hassle from an immoral business, who know that I am bed-bound 18 hours out of 24, by an excruciatingly painful, debilitating Brain-Tumour. Perhaps they presume that I am too sick to fight for my refund or that I will die before it gets to a court.

All I have stated here is true & accurate, full details are available upon request.
I wish you far better luck in your dealings.
    Yours sincerely,
    Pepsie

I just thought i'd share this find as I'm after getting a pretty decent 42' Full HD TV for €450

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200347962410

It's on eBay but you can pick up the TV in Blanchardstown.

The store is here, I bidded very late and nicked the TV

    http://stores.shop.ebay.ie/LuzernTech__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Is the eBay store, they have their own but you can get them cheaper on eBay if you bid right.

I bought a 42 inch Philips tv from Luzerntech for 800 euro and tv broke after 2 years. They were a nightmare to deal with and would do nothing at all for me.
    Steer clear from them

Just thought I'd mention as I've read mark2000ies posts on Consumer Issues that the small claims court refused to take his case because he had paid by Paypal. Its worth bearing in mind that Paypal really does not offer good after sales protection in the long run and that by using it as payment you may deny yourself the option to avail of the Small Claims Court service. That means that if your TV breaks down outside of warranty you may have to pay for the repair yourself or pay for a solicitor to help you recoup money from the company you bought from.

If you buy by credit card, laser or cash you will get help from the SCC.
