    Hi
Does anyone have any experience working with Acorn life in Sales. They have a lot of jobs advertised on irishjobs.ie Would love to hear what is involved. Is cold calling involved?
    Thanks

I spotted their positions on Irish life as well but Sales is not my strong area. Would be interesting to hear if someone has worked for them?

Cold calling, yes but they'll probably give you a shed load of "qualified" leads.
    Tough, tough game this.

got offered a job with them before, there is no salary you only get commission and some perks, wouldnt go into sales the way it is now, didnt take the job, i need a bit of security!

Good call, its all weighted their way, pay you nothing but if you get a sale, they get it too.

If what this poster says is true then stay well well away.

You have no basic salary and are technically self employed. These scumbags have began operating under the Cobra Group umbrella - they have no moral center or any conception of business ethics. In short they are total scumbags and are running a glorified pyramid scheme. My advice is to stay well away.

I sat an "interview" with these guys lately. Basically offered me the job straight up, and then spent an hour or so going through their sales techniques and so forth. They expect you to provide them with a list of about 100 people, each of whom you will have a free financial consultation with - during which you will point out how that person needs to set up an Acorn life savings/pension or life assurance scheme.

If you set up a pension, Acorn's fees (which are quite high, I'm told) are taken out very early, meaning that you could pay in say €15,000 in the first year, lose your job and be forced to give up the pension and suffer massive losses on that €15,000... that's just an example but there are some figures in this thread on askaboutmoney that will tell you more.

I didn't take up the job - would be very uncomfortable with selling a product which I didn't believe in to friends and family, and commission based work is always risky I think. That said, the guys who do work there are apparently rolling it in - so if it suits your BF, best of luck to him.

    Hey Maud,

Just wondering did the b/f go ahead with the job?
