Short turn around for Ireland, up again at 1.30 tomorrow at Trent Bridge. Its a huge ask, New Zealand will rightly be red hot favourites. As is always the case for an associate nation team we will need everything to go our way to have a chance.

In the other game, South Africa ftw

Think both games will probably go with the favourites.

Kiwis and Saffers to win comfortably. Hope I'm wrong though.

Ireland will have O'Brien and Johnston back and England will hope Pietersen keeps up his good form against his homeland, so there is hope.

Will New Zealand play Vettori and Taylor?, Ryder is also out, cant be bad news, can it?, :)...

The Kiwi's are missing some starters and only have new blood to fill the slots.

This in itself would tell me they would lose only for the fact that it's Ireland they're taking on...but...Ireland put up a good show against India and never once backed down when the result didn't matter.

5-1 on Boyle's for Ireland, though I think the 4-7 on the Saffers was sliced to 4-9 at Ladbrokes.

@ Lee, you can get 11/2 on PaddyPower,

really looking forward to this game, think it's going be great, lets hope the boys can get us a win here :)...

Got an Ireland/Saffers double for about 9-1 or so. Just for change mind. Betting tennis this morning. 20 double on Baltacha and Rochus... Shiiiiip (cos Baltacha is a set up)

best chance ireland will have against the kiwis given their injury problems. that said i still think they should be 10/1 to win

i hope we can do it come on lads

I'm confident that the Irish batting line will tighten up and punish the loose Kiwi bowling.

Hope your right i think the winning the toss could be crucial with clouds around at moment but meant to clear up later on..

Hopefully the Irish openers can do bitter than recently need atleast one of them too put up some half decent score.Dont want to be always relying on the O Briens

porterfield won the toss and has put them in to bat.

realistically we need to restrict them to under 160 we dont have the firepower to chase anything much bigger than that.

    come on boys

    7/1 on Bet365,

think it's worth a tenner bet, anyone know if O'B and Trent are back?...

Cricinfo shows Bray left out and Niall O'Brien opening alongside Porterfield, with Botha 3 (this may change). Ireland have bowled well, but got off to slow starts when batting so far, and they need an opener who can hit over the infield in the first 6 overs. Hopefully O'Brien will give it a go.

Ranking hasn't had the best of starts has he though?, love the guy, but thought he improved against India,

    who knows...

True and I think Botha has more potential to score quick runs and keep it tight but I like Rankins upside he can be amazing when on form

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

Poor tactics there, shudda stepped back 5 yards for that second reverse sweep. (you knew he's try again)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Another horribly expensive over.

Please guys, I'm begging here! ;-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

    This is frickin poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭D3PO

its gonna take one heck of a bowling performance for the last 10 to make this winnable !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

We need a height no ball.

    Around the face should do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

This stream works for me, for now anyway: http://hqsportz.net/chan1.html

Ireland badly needs a wicket or two. Otherwise we are looking at chasing 160+ here...! Impossible unless the team borrows Sanat Jayasuria for a few hours!
