It's more like a pulling sensation I thought... just really uncomfortable for a few seconds!!

Nurse asked me if i was considering having an epidural. I was and she offered to have the epid done before the waters were broken. After epidural i felt nothing. I was very happy with that!!

Were you in labour before they broke your waters livvy? Would you not have to be constantly monitored if you weren't in labour? Because they wouldn't know when your contractions start?

I was in full labour and about 2 centimeter's when the nurse broke my water's and as she was doing it i had a contraction so it was an awful experience for me. If they are going to break your waters to induce labour then you'll be grand an internal is uncomfortable but not what i'd consider painful. Best of luck, how exciting for you :)

Had my waters broken for me twice and it's not the most pleasant experience but it certainly gets things moving! Had both my lads within 3 hours of them being broken.

Hi, I had waters broken on all of my 5 deliveries and in labour on each occassion and to be brutally honest, didnt feel that much. The best of luck tomorrow and enjoy every second, it is so worth it.

I had my waters broken on both of mine, and both times I was already in labour. I didn't feel anything at the time, other than the gush of water and the following contraction. But I was already having pretty consistant contractions at that stage.
Not sure how it works if you're not already in labour. But a lot of people have their waters break and no contractions for hours, sometimes days later.

    I'm sure you'll be fine. :)
Best of luck and enjoy it. The whole thing is a wonderful experience and all pain is quickly forgotten when they hand you your baby.

On Friday when done sweep was 3 cm. Went home and on Sunday had show. Went straight in and then and was monitored on a machine -"trace" i think -for a while before they brought me up to labour ward. Once there i got the epidural.
