(feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place).

This might not seem like a huge issue but i'm a little (or a lot) self conscious about it.
Basically my skin is the pits....I have whats the equivilant of exscma patches on my skin that comes and goes, I'm not sure if it's to do with my diet or stress cause it's gone really bad now (doing my leaving cert)... its dry and yet oily, I've said it to a dermatologist before and she just gave me a few things to use A)they're really expensive and I can't afford them, and B) they're not really doing wonders. My skin is also really unevenly coloured..patchy and just awful looking.

Any tips, maybe natural things I can try?

First of all, this is not a forum where people can give you advice on what is essentially a medical problem.

If the things the dermatologist gave you are not working, return and find out what else it available.

You may also want to get a second opinion, a friend of mine had what he thought was eczema, and it turned out to be tinea versicolour, which is a fungal infection, and is treated completely differently from eczema.

    Hi there,
You should try organic coconut oil, you can buy in evergreen health shop, it 's about 5 euro. You can apply oil every night on your skin and little bit every morning. It should help. Also try to avoid chocolate, sweetss, milk and white bread.

I had very bad skin when I was a teenager too. I'm 20 now. My doctor initially gave me antibiotics for it which gave me some results but didn't work wonders. After a good few years of that the doc recommended I consult a dermatologist which I did and after a lot of discussion I decided to go on Roaccutane. It's not a very nice drug to live with but it did clear my skin up well and I stopped taking medication completely for my skin.

About 9 months later it started to flare up again so went back to the derm and I'm he put me back on the anitbiotics which are doing the job quite well and I'm still taking them. I do remember that they could take a while to produce results. Unfortunately there is no quick fix solution, except perhaps Roaccutane but that didn't give me permanent results like it has for others.

Maybe try some different antibiotics, I think there are 5 separate ones that are similar and I have tried most of them, some worked better for me than others. There are some good creams out there too - Quinoderm was good for me and it's over the counter I think. Isotrexin is what I use now but it is prescription only and it is the best one I have used yet.

Good luck with it and your leaving cert
