    Hi -

i am french born and raised, left when i was 18, however ... I have never really visited Paris ( I was there when i was 11 for 1 days school trip ) .... shame on me

i am taking my BF to Paris at the end of July and I have absolutely NO idea where to plan our hotel. I have vouchers for 3 star hotels anywhere in Paris, i know noone there ... so I have no clue what is the best place to stay. All I know is that i want to stay somewhere central... What wouild be the best place to stay, as in, when you get out of the hotel, you are somewhere nice lively with cafes and restaurants?

    Merci a tous ...

The Paris postcodes start from 75001 to 75020 and spiral outwards in the shape of a snails shell.
Anywhere from 75001 to 75006 will be central.

I'd suggest a hotel in the Marais district of Paris.

I was told by one of my colleagues that le Quartier Latin is a great spot too, right by the university. That could be good for cheap places to eat.

WE'd be using the velibs a lot anyway, so I guess we'd be flying about to places in no time :) can't wait!

Paris is like that. You're never really far from anywhere else. Quartier Latin is a very touristy area. You can eat cheap but you don't always eat well though Paris, compared to Dublin, can be inexpensive as long as you check the prices *before* you sit down to order :)

I'd have to recommend the Hotel Cecilia Champs Elysees, 3 star but worth more, 50m from the arc on ave. macmahon, small rooms but spotless, and service fantastic, booked through booking.com or one of those and got a wonderful deal for myself & GF last Feb for 4 nights....location perfect, price brilliant....oh and a wonderful buffet breakfast......
U cant go wrong with it!!!!!
