Question about signing on for the first time

I havn't much of a clue about dole but will very soon, I expect to be laid off in a couple of weeks, not yet confirmed...What is the difference between dole and stamps? I have worked all of my adult life on a decent wage and nervous about signing on, if I can do a couple of days agency how would I get on, they would be 12…
