Heart attacks among sports people

    We had this discussion after fatalities in Connemara and Barcelona Marathons. Have a look at the attached file from Belgium last weekend. A professional footballer suffered a heart attack last year and was only allowed back playing after he had a defib implanted. It saved his life.

    yeh clive clarke from newtown in co wicklow nearly died after having a heart attack on pitch for leicester city . had to retire though clive did clubs wont get insurance for these lads

    Mad film footage. I only started running four years ago & as I edge towards the mid-forty mark, I'm increasingly reminded of a superfit, twenty something cousin who had a heart attack while running a 10k. Not sure how prepared many race organisers are for such eventualities.
