Hey, a friend is having a birthday party and wants me to do some DJ'ing at it. I was wondering is there a free programme out there that lets you DJ with an MP3 collection? Nothing too complicated, just something that will let me line up tracks and cross fade really.

    Cheers

Are you seriously suggesting that he should pay $600 for a piece of kit to play a mate's party?

Did you even read his post?

That pacemaker is a complete gimmick. Forget it.

OP free trials are available for most of the software like Traktor, Deckadance, Virtual DJ etc
Or there is a totally free open source software called Mixx: http://www.mixxx.org

yep i reckon mixx(the free one zascar recommended) is what you want.

alternatively you can set up itunes to crossfade songs.
im presuming that you dont really want to beatmatch so maybe itunes will
    be good enough for you

i think this is just a one off for the OP so id go with the free options.

if they were going to take up djing then he should consider shelling out some money for software until then go for the free option
    in my opinion of course:D

I'd agree with Sean. Just do up a few Playlists on iTunes and then set up Auto-fade.
