Anyone else still having trouble with this update? It gets to the same percentage everytime when I download it. I think its around 56%. Then an error code comes up whcih I can find no information about on the net. Anyone have an idea what the problem may be?

If its during the download the error comes up, and not the install, then just download the update via your PC, put it on a USB stick and update it that way. Go to the official PS site for the update and instructions.

    Thanks otacon.

I downloaded the update on to my usb key and uploaded it onto the ps3 but when its copying it only gets to 99% before the same error code as before comes up. I did all the things the official site advises you to do and still nothing. Also rang the support line and tried what they said to do and had no success.
For the record the error code coming up is 80029C77. There is no info on this code on the internet. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks.

If I was you, I would use the back-up feature in the System Settings menu. Use an external HDD for this.

Then, send your PS3 back to the shop or Sony and get a new one. Is it still within warranty?

Its still within warranty, but this is the first and only problem I have ever encountered with the system. Unfortunatley I don't have access to a HDD so I'm unsure what to do. Going to just turn it off now for an hour and try it again then. Its about time that sony set up an error code database where you could just enter the error code and it would tell you whats wrong and how to fix it.

TBH its time for every company to set up such a database!

You can pick up an external HDD very cheaply in stores like Argos or Maplins. If you want to use an online retailer, in this thread, this external is mentioned [€63]. There are cheaper options too so shop around.

I would advise you get a replacement cos if the PS3 is acting up this early in its life, it will be a nightmare later [like a child!]
