just wondering wat the typical wardrobe is for girls, how many outfits or about how many pairs of shoes, dresses, tops etc so i hav an idea what to aim for?
ive no room for all my clothes and when i go to my wardrobe its so crammed, but i wonder whats a normal amount to have, thanks x :)

I have the following ( I only know this as I did a recent clear out)

    39 pairs of shoes
    12 work suits
    5 work dresses
    10 work shirts
    14 work tops
12 pairs of jeans (depending on heels I need two lengths so six pairs of both)
    10 casual tops
    10 going out tops
6 skirts (mix of work and going out)
    8 dresses (all dressy/formal)
    8 going out tops
    4 pairs yoga pants
    2 swimsuits
    4 tshirts
    2 rugby shirts
    1 sweater
    1 sloppy jumper
    8 vest tops

Also 40 pairs of socks, 25 pairs of hold ups, 32 sets of matching underwear, three beanie hats, 8 jackets, four coats, 10 handbags, three evening bags, and four wrap/scarf things

That's after I sent three full black sacks to the charity shop, and all I can fit in three small wardrobe spaces :D

I feel so inadequate after that!!!!

I have one smart black dress, 3 suits (work and weddingy), my OH's suit, umpteen work shirts, going out tops, tshirts, jeans, jumpers etc.

I'm not mad on shoes but I've 3 rather nice pairs of dressy ones, 4 pairs of boots, a pair of havianas, wedges and a pair of fluffy slippers.

I need to have another clear out as I'm moving in with said OH soon and for some reason, he thinks he needs some wardrobe space - chuh ...

I've been working up the courage to throw away the things I don't wear, for about 6 months now.
But I'm pathological about waste. :(

    2 words... Charity Shops!

    No waste there!

If you haven't worn it in six months, to the charity shop with it.

That, and turn all of the hangers around in your wardrobe so the hooks face outwards - when you wear something, re-hang it normally, hanger hook facing inwards. In three months, you'll see what you don't wear.

I do something similiar with the hangers, they all face inwards, and I rotate clothes so that the most recently worn are at one end and the unworn at the other.

Then every six months, what's not been worn goes to the charity shop :) along with the pile of ripped/torn/shrunk or unwearable items which get sent for recycling.

I have always felt that the 6 monthly purge is just a little too previous. I can go 6 months without wearing some summery tops.

I have a "going, going, gone" shelf at the top of my wardrobe. Stuff that I haven't worn for more 6 months goes there. If it's still there untouched in another 6 months it's into the black bag with it. Occasionally I'll take something down and wear it again.

As for quantities of what items - haven't a clue! And don't think I could classify them neatly either, there's a lot of crossover :D

6 month purge doesn't make sense. Annual purge if not worn, cause we have 4 seasons.

I have lots of clothes but i probably only wear 60% or even less on a regular basis, just recently got around to giving away jeans that are too big for me since i lost weight.
I have zero wardrobe organisation my friends think i own about 3 "going out" outfits.

 We do? I thought we had "winter" and "WHEN will it be summer?"

Oh no you took me up wrong.
I meant that I have spent the last 6 months trying to convince myself to throw things away.
I still have perfectly functional clothes from 2nd year in school. :o:o:o

I wish I was that organised that I knew what is in my wardrobe I can never find what I'm looking for. As for quanitities of anything I would have no idea.

Oh boy, 3 pairs of pants that aren't ripped, a few shirts, and like 2 pairs of shoes. I abhor shopping, though I really ought go one of these days >.<

i'm actually quite cold & clinical when it comes to throwing out clothes. just did a big clear out this evening actually. if i haven't worn it in 3/4 months then its into the charity shop bag.

i just cant throw away shoes tho, its the pits. i mean you just don't know when neon banana yellow stilettos will come back into fashion do you?

I can't remember what the last item of clothing I bought was. (Possibly a half-sleeved pink short cardi.)

I wear all my clothes, because I really only have work clothes, a few pairs of jeans, a few t-shirts and chunky cardis and some going out tops that have been worn to death.

I haven't bought any decent clothes in ages, even though most of what I have is frustratingly recognisable, because I figure nobody sees me where I work other than my colleagues and they're too busy working to look at me, and at home I wear jeans or my pyjamas.

I have a very small wardrobe.

i recently cleared out my wardrobe, still TONS of stuff i never wear.although i did finally part ways with my "if i lost 10lbs i'll totally fit these" jeans!:D

    3 pairs of everyday jeans
    1 denim mini skirt
    1 pair grey cords
    several summer dresses
    1 pair work pants
    couple of work skirts
    couple of work dresses
    couple of going out dresses
    1 formal dress(from my 21st)
    3 summer jackets

many many pairs of shoes, although my clearout saw 2 black bags full of shoes go west.

My rule is if I buy something new and add to my wardrobe, something has to go. Chaos otherwise.
