    So reports in the Media indicate that Setanta sports are in financial trouble and might close down, so the question is

    If they clsoe down, will UPC change subcribers a "downgrade" charge if/when it closes down?

    Surely not. That would be the ultimate piss take. It isn't the consumers fault that Setanta are going bust.

    Based on media reports Setanta are trying to off load the 46 games they have for the 2009/10 season.

    Considering that many (if not the majority) of Setanta subscribers are only interested in the football Its possible/likely that many will want to ditch the setanta package especially in the current watching the pennies climate.

    Thus will UPC look for the € 10 downgrade charge - I would say its highly likely...

    yet again upc get the blame for everything
    setanta are gone out of buisness ans this is nothing to do with upc
    they just show the channels on setantas behalf.
    YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED A DOWNGRADE FEE if you want to take it off.
    i cant see hoow this thread has turned into a upc issue yet again, if you have any issues ring setanta themselves but upc will not chge the dg fee, its not down to them that they are broke. in my opinion its any excuse to blame ntl a :mad:
    the guy was just askin a simple question on whether he will rec the dg fee....

    This is confirmed on UPC's website, by the way.

    Chorus ntl can confirm that Setanta Sports is still operating in Ireland and the following channels continue to be broadcast

    * Setanta Ireland
    * Setanta 1
    * ESPN America
    * Racing UK
    * Chelsea TV

    With immediate effect the following channels have ceased to broadcast following the entry of Setanta UK into administration

    * Setanta 2
    * Setanta Golf
    * Celtic TV
    * Setanta Sports News

    The Setanta premium pack will continue to bill as normal, customers can call 1908 to downgrade their package. There is no charge to downgrade the Setanta premium pack.

    No, I don't think it was a stupid question. Obviously one UPC feel the need to clearly answer.
