    Hello,
Inspired by a thread in the travel reviews forum and the need for a few days away, I'm thinking of heading to Nice next month.
Does anyone have any recommendations for accomodation?
Would prefer something near the beach and central enough in and around €100 per night.
I've seen one place called Hotel Gounod which seems to fit the bill but would appreciate if anyone has any alternatives or has stayed here and if you would recommend?
    Thanks in advance

Just back from there, had a ball. Stayed in la malmaison, it was around €115 per night about 5 mins walk from beach and 10 mins from train station (booked it on www.lamalmaison.com)

Heard Le Grimaldi is nice that's also close to everything (1800hotels.ie have rates for this)

    Enjoy

I have stayed in the Hotel Nice Riviera and I couldn't fault the place. It's perfectly located a stones throw away from Avenue Jean Medecin (wide shopping st.) and a 5 min walk to the Old City which then brings you on to the sea front. I was never in Nice before and found the locals very friendly. The hotel staff were perfectly fluent in English but the not many people in shops had a word of English in my experience.

We decided to try some of the local wines from the supermarkets one evening and brought it back to the hotel room. It was too late when I realised I didn't have a cork screw. I popped down to the reception and one of the guys there stole one from the bar for us and just asked that I return it when ready. It's the little things like that I appreciate in hotels and unfortunately don't find it too often, but did here. The place was immaculate and I just thought that it was a really good find and I would definately stay there again.

If you haven't been to Nice before, you won't be disappointed, it's a lovely place.
