Have a network hardrive in work shard between two people.

When trying to add a user I "unshared" the main folder which deleted it.

The folder is now gone and not showing up when plugged into USB either so i turned off the drive so no data can be written to it.

So the data is still there but needs to be recovered can anyone recommend some good software preferable free but willing to pay if it will make a difference as this data is very important.

If the folder structures could be kept that would be a huge plus as theres alot of directories.

    Thanks for the help.

I have used this before it is decent and free. All I would say is make sure you are certain it can do exactly what you need before doing anything (I would be think it will be fine but I have only used it for the occasional file, not whole folders or anything)

EDIT: Just checked it has a tree view so whole folders restoration will be no bother .

A few years back I used a data recovery specialist in Athlone, on the Roscommon road near Athlon Golf Club.
I could find his name if you are stuck, or you wish to use his services.
He claimed he could recover data from a reformatted disk.
    He had all the equipment.

No harm in downloading it and doing a scan on the disk to see if it picks up all the data in the folder in question. If you are not satisfied what you see then don't run the recovery.

What you will be hoping to see is all the files with no overwriiten clusters then you are golden.

Don't use the drive untill you have recovered the data as any activity could overwrite some of the sectors used by the deleted files.

I find TESTDISK to be a brilliant piece of software- it's free and easy enough to use.

So much software, rare enough they actually do any good though.

A proper recovery will cost a fair bit of cash and is done by some IT businesses.
