I am suffering what all runners go through from time to time and that is lack of motivation.
My current fitness being fairly good but im finding it hard to get out the door.Reasons:COMING BACK TO FAST FROM INJURY
Although i have stayed injury free i find the days after a race the hardest.

    What to train for???
I am enjoying doing some hill running at the moment but in terms of gaging
where my fitness is i havn't a clue.
I have entered a 10k in july but not sure if i can be in good enough shape to run as well as i want.I will probaly run some league races for my club(3 in total)but wont be doing any others.
Choices:do the race series int eh park and train with Dublin marathon in mind or keep to the mountain runs and some raod races.
do some track or else keep the miles staedy and build towards cross country?
    anyone any opinions?
suppose getting a coach would be the best way.

Complete the entire Great Run Series!

Starting with a 10 k in Suderland in July.

A great way to see some UK cities, as well as the Phoenix Park.

I'm just after a month of the same basically done very little since belfast but setting my sights on the XC now, but going to pick a couple or races a long the way to see where i stand.
I think the XC season is just a litle far away to focus 100% so plan a few 3ks and 5 ks during the summer to keep me going.

Are you still with the club?

Yeah, lack of motivation usually stems from the lack of a goal that excites you and that you would be proud to achieve.

How about picking a hard but just about achievable goal in the middle term to aim for. Something you would love to do. Writing out a plan that you know will get you to achieve this plan will also motivate you. And keep this plan as the overall reason you are training and that should get you out the door!

Would you consider doing the national half marathon or I reckon if you did Dublin you would be looking at a decent enough time(not sure what your pb is), would you be in and around 2:40 shape?

COMING BACK TO FAST FROM INJURY

Now that's not like you, is it?

What to train for? I think if you're demotivated it doesn't matter what, just pick something, anything an appropriate time away so you've something to structure a plan around. Just entering races willy nilly soone gets tiring IMO.

The National half sounds like a good shout, the distance will suit you, and nearly 3 months away, time enough. Will give you a good base then for XC specific training with the Dublin seniors 2 months later. You could use the 10k in July then as an interim race to see how you're going.

Maybe take a break and discover yourself man?
or else read Once a Runner - if that doesn't motivate you to get out that door then you do need a break.
