I am thinking of ordering from power-house fitness uk but do not have a credit card.

I have 3v, would that help, or do they have other options?

I'm sure their website says what payment methods they accept.

Up to what point? 2x the cost? 5x? Bit of a blanket statement that. Of course I'd rather buy Irish myself, but only to a point.

Id agree,id always support irish businesses even if there was a small difference in price in favour of he UK company

I'll support Irish companies as well where I can, but if I'm being ripped off, what's the point? If Irish companies decide to drop their prices then maybe the Irish people will support them more.

    Rip off =/= high prices

Rip off = excessively high prices

We're an expensive island to do business in. Sometimes Irish companies have to charge more for a comparable product/servicce as a result.

Thanks lads for the support but I honestly think that I am better value. If you want cheap go to argos they are cheaper than either of us but they aren't as good VALUE...

If you really look at the products and compare like with like I think I come out on top, a good home gym revolves around a power rack. My normal power rack weighs 71kg and costs 349.99 or 288 euro ex vat. The powerhouse "heavy" power rack weighs 69kg and costs 299.99 sterling or 260 sterling ex vat (305-310 euro depending on your credit cards exchange).

My hands are tied a little by having a higher vat rate in Ireland but I am actually selling for less than them. Even with the higher vat here the end user price is the same if you buy off me or them.

Then if you look at their commercial rack here it's 758 sterling for 95kg of power rack, my heavy rack is 105kg and it's 499 euro, I don't think I need to do the maths for that one.

A picture can be very deceiving, just because the pictures look the same it doesn't mean that the products are the same, a classic example of this is actually on the powerhouse site, anyone care to explain the difference between these two preacher curl bench's?

They are both powerhouse own brand, first one is 99 sterling and the second one costs 191 sterling? The weight of the first one isn't listed but the second is 25kg. (Btw my preacher is 149.99 euro and weights 25kg ;) ) Of course there is always the one in argos if you are looking for the cheapest, only 37 euro (and 7kg!)

It's one of the main reasons I am opening a showroom in a couple of weeks, so people can come down and see the equipment in the flesh and even try it out (or pick it up and weigh it :D )

I think that this debate tends to crop up every couple of weeks. I didnt post on this thread as Corkman never said what he was ordering, in that he may want something that local suppliers dont stock.

Those of us who have purchased off Mick (irish lifting) are always delighted with the quality and pricing of the equipment and the service and advice offered.
I have ordered off powerhouse for equipment that irish lifting didnt stock and have no complaints about them. But when and where possible i go through irish lifting. for example I purchased the power rack and lat attachment off mick recently and with a bit of discount (due to previous purchases:D), no where else was coming close, and as regards price of plates no where else competes.
I really think you need to sit down with a calculator, compare like for like and if possible see the equipment and then make your decision, just make sure you dont buy crap that ends up on adverts in 3 months time when you realise you need to upgrade. (a la spinlock bars, a pain in the butt:o, one piece of advice i didnt take from mick)

just to add to my previous post and completely off topic, this is irish lifting's 349 power rack in situ, with the lat attachment, and if you compare this to the picture on the website it gives a better idea of what your getting. super piece of kit.powerrack.jpgjust have to figure out what im supposed to do with it:D
