    Hi folks

I got called up for jury duty on July 27th. I have a holiday booked for the next Wednesday, August 6th. I would like to do the jury duty, but obviously dont want to miss my holiday which is already paid. It says on the summons that it normally lasts 5 days. Is it safe to accept the call, or should i try and get out of it on the basis of my holiday?

    Any help appreciated

    G

Explain your situation and everything should be fine.

Thing is i would like to accept it if it were to go no longer than 5 days. I've always wanted to be called up. Would i be taking a silly risk to go in on July 27th if i have holidays booked for the Wednesday of the next week?

Contact the circuit court clerks office and explain your situation. Chances are a case could be put off until the next monday and could run for the week depending on the case.

They'll sort you out if you explain it and the fact you'll do it next time round will help. Dont ignore it, the fines raised from £6 to €1000 in Janurary for non appearance for jury duty.
    Hope this helps

If you can present evidence of a holiday being booked, they'll let you off - print out your aer lingus ticket and present it to them.

As nice guy says above, there's no way for them to put you on a case with a short time limit. Any case could end up running for longer than expected.
