PS3 Component video problem

Hi guys, hoping to pick your collective brains:
My sister's kids' PS3 no longer works on the traditional Playstation display cable (the one that terminates in Stereo (Red and white) & composite (yellow)). But I just tried HDMI on my TV and it works fine. I know, HDMI is far better, but I'm not sure that her TV has a HDMI port.

Any suggestions of what the problem might be? Would it require a hardware repair to get it sorted? Thanks!

Easiest thing to do is try to get hold of another display cable, the problem could be in the cable itself.

keep your finger on the power "button" on the front of the PS3 until it beeps. this will reset the display settings so it works with regular cable. If its currently working with your HDMI cable this means the display settings are using HD and this wont display with the regular component cable.

    hope this helps.

Thanks Nedd (and Bizarre-Ink). That did the trick. Nephews must have been mucking with the settings. I'll set it up for them with HDMI instead anyway, as it should be much better quality.
