    Hey Guys,

Need advice, Im a 23 year old who is a long admirer of running and have recently intensived how often I run, I love the idea of doing the Dublin Marathon, My dad has completed every one and hope I can achieve a similiar feat, I plan on doing the Lifestyle series in the summer after I ran the Dub 5mile classic in a decent first timer time of 34mins 52seconds. I am wondering if there is a weights training regime which would compliment my running as I am running about 8km three to four times a week. Any advice would be great!

Too right that's a good time for a first race! You'll fly a marathon if you approach it in the proper manner and with dedication.

Weights. Yes, perhaps a little gym routine by way of cross-training on your non-running days wouldn't harm. More effective would be a regular core strengthening workout.

But generally you'll only improve your running significantly by...running. The race series is a good idea, but you'd best start getting used to longer time on your feet. Longer and slower.

Keep us posted and good luck.
