    Hey guys,

To cut a long story short. Had a decent enough deal of a Dolan Mythos Carbon frame with r600 crankset & 105 everything else...coming to €1150 delivered.

Order has gone belly up as there are no size 52 frames (sloping) in UK for the next 2 - 3 months.

Had my mind set on that bike, but now I can't have it...and really don't want to wait til autumn for a new bike!

Anyone got any suggestions for comparable deals? I want to spend the cash fast :)

    Thanks

    MD

+1 on those, about the best choice or that sorta money -or try the Boardman (I think there's a carbon one at that price), Available at Halfords

Gotta say the boardmans look nice. Saw one on the poggio a few weeks back when I was heading back with Ken and Decrrr (apologies, I seem to get the number of "r"s wrong sometimes). They look nice and understated in the flesh, but they are really well specced, priced and Chris Boardman knows a few things about bikes.

Any of those choices would leave you with a bike to be proud of, the final choice will boil down to fit and aesthetics. You might even shop around and see if you can get something else locally, depending on your budget.

Just don't buy a pink one!

    Thanks for the replies everyone,

I'm in two minds about the Cayo aesthetically...looks a bit too flash for me. I prefer the all black look. Makes me feel like batman. The Boardman looks great aside from the wheel complaints...sounds a bit bogey...

whats the story with buying from Halfords in the republic? Do they have shops down here or do you need to go up north?

There's a few shops down here -Carrickmines and Nutgrove spring to mind. The wheels should be fine -if there's a problem with 'em, get them sorted under warranty!

cool might ring around tomorrow and see if any of them have some in stock. I've read lots of bad things about Halfords...but the bikes looks nice, and the price is right.

I suppose it might just be a case of double checking all the maintenance and set up they do there.

Headed out to the liffey valley shop today...it does look pretty sweet.

    Price was dropped to €1269...

But they wouldn't budge on that any further to match northern prices. Northern prices work out €1160 and I can arrange pick up from there very easily so reckon thats the route I will go.

I read a thread on here one lad got one in the newry store...if anyone else has had good experiences with northern halfords let me know. I'm pretty much resigned to having it set up again by LBS once I get my hands on it, but, or course, it would be nicer if it was working well out of the box.

    Cheers

Give Hollingsworth tempelogue a bell I know they have 52 frames in stock or they had last week anyway and get a build price off joe for the craic it may be slightly more than what you are talking about now but at least its the bike you want.

PS spent 8 hours on the mythos myself last sunday on the wicklow 200 absolute dream ride seriously good piece of kit

Yeah I was in talking to Joe, but they best price he could give me was over 1600...and to be honest I can't justify spending that much over the odds. I know it is a lovely bike but I'm on a strict budget so I think Boardman is the way to go...or else wait 3 months :)
