I've been shameful in how little proper clubbing I've done in recent times, mainly cause so few of my mates are into it. I want to start going to more gigs at the weekend - I'd prefer the smaller venues that play good house, tech house, minimal & techno etc. What nights are on where regularly that are worth checking out?

I'm in the middle of the Leaving, so i've been off the scene for a while...but generally the only times you'll get good tunes is when there's a big DJ playing. Spy/Wax have pretty good people now and then, I know Roman Flugel from Alter Ego is playing there soon, think their gigs are on Saturdays now, and the Academy, Tripod, Button Factory, Twisted Pepper and Andrew's Lane also have good people every now and then, so between them there's generally something on most weekends. But as for a regular good techno-y night, I've yet to find any success, so I can't help you there :( Has anyone been to Bodytonic's new place Pygmalion? It's advertised as house, but I dunno what it's like...

hey guys the Weird SCientist is starting back up as a weekly every Saturday in a couple of weeks and thats just the type of tunes we're gonna be dishing out!
We've been looking for a small underground club to get back to basics in and Eamon Dorans of all places has asked us to move in and set up shop.
Has a sweet sound system and is nice and dark and durrty so looking forward to a new era in a brand new laboratory.

More info to follow regarding residents, guests and costs etc(will prob be a €5 before 12)

    hey Zascar,
A few friends of mine launched a new night ColorTv last Friday to go monthly in a newish small venue on Dame St, Peadar Kearneys. Very small actually, under 200 capacity! The music was really good the first night anyway, mixture of a live set/electro/then techno from Al Keegan of Acii Disco. i think they are planning to keep it electro/tech house/techno for the future. They just want to host something a little different where the focus is on a party atmosphere but always going to book quality DJs. Have to say the atmosphere was amazing all the same, I didnt know too many people there but felt very welcome. I suppose its the way it is in smaller places!! Heard they have Arveene for July which should be great crack.
