Bike on Rosslare Train

Gonna be cycling down to Rosslare soon, so I'm thinking I'll get the train back up to Dublin. Can you still do that? I remember doing it about 15 years ago and putting the bike in a special carriage. Also how much is it for 2 bikes if it is possible?

on the irishrail.ie website there is a guide listing of the trains which can take bikes, its 8euro per bike from limerick to dublin so probably something like that... will need to ring the station in rosslare to confirm though

So far as I know, you can't - the intercity service has been replaced with one of those glorified commuter trains - but I would check with Irish Rail to be sure.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Call both stations in advance to check if its OK. If they say yes,
MAKE SURE YOU GET THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU TALKED TO because the irishrail policy of bikes on trains seems to change with the tides. If some guy at the gate stops you with your bike, you can say that "Oh but Johnny Stationmanager said we could bring them on no problem", and the guy at the gate will let you on. This is from personal experience with bringing bikes on at Ennis btw.

After being told I could bring bike on intercity train a few weeks back they tried to stop me at the nearest station. Thankfully I had plenty of supplies in the kit bag.Removed the wheels and cable tied them to the fram and then dropped the saddle.Sat in the first seat where there is space for wheelchair/buggy(lady also put her buggy in) and it was not even commented on by the ticket collector.Mins after getting off I was back on the road

Cheers for the replies, I tried calling but got no answer from Rosslare station so I'll try again tomorrow. Might just take it apart and carry it on if all else fails since I'll be heading home on the train anyway so I won't need the bike. Or else get the bus, their website says you can put a bike in the luggage compartment... damage is probably assured in there though
