Cycling Holiday

I know a few people have queried about cycling holidays on the forum so I thought I 'd share my expierence with a UK based group called redspokes. Their website is http://www.redspokes.co.uk/

After wanting to go on a cycle holiday for some time but none of my friends wanted to go I decided to go by myself and found that redspokes had the best packages so I booked the Vietnam Tour and went in April and I'd highly recommend this one. While getting to Hanoi is not too easy from Ireland it was well worth the trip.

All together we visited 10 different towns/cities within 2 weeks so we were constantly on the move and as it was point to point cycling so the scenery never got boring. Weather was very mixed and some of the showers were very heavy but they were always short so you'd be pulling the wet gear off as quick as putting it on! The cycling pace is up to yourself although with the constant changing weather and amazing scenery most people took it easy. Even with some beers each evening it was still easy enough to complete the cycling so long as your relatively fit you'd have no issue's as you can stop as often as you like. The shortest day was approx 50 km which was well needed and most of the other days were about 100 km. The longest climb was up to Sa Pa and was approx 25 km of climbing and peaked at approx 2000 m. It was a long and steady climb but there was tougher shorter climbs with higher gradients.

    Total Distance 773.00(km)

    Total Time 37.78(hours)

    Total Ascent 7951.00(m)

Anyway if your looking for an interesting tour with plenty of cycling then I'd recommend checking out their website. I am definitely going to go again with them hopefully next year, just have to decide where!
