Carbs and exercise

    I am currently trying to lose weight, I have altered my diet to eat more healthily. I am also exercising almost everyday, running 4-8km + push ups & sit ups

    After exercising I generally have pasta and chicken, but i have read online that carbs should be avoided to lose weight and that carbs are burned for energy before fat.

    my question is, if I lower my carbs intake, will I still have enough energy to exercise?

    And at the moment, am I merely burning carbs when I exercise??

    If you're worried about energy levels, then have some carbs before training - not after. Go for slow releasing carbs like brown rice/pasta, porridge etc. Avoid refined/processed white carbs like white rice/pasta/bread. Don't go nuts on them though, a small portion should be all you need.

    keep your protein intake high. the more you cut back on cals, the more protein you need.

    eat enough carbs to fuel your training. with low intensity training like you are doing, start with something like 100g per day.

    add green vegetables and other fibrous carbs to add fullness and satiety.

    you'll burn *some* carb and *some* fat and (gasp) *some* protein when running. whatever, eat to train.

    focus on burning more calories than you consume while maintaining muscle mass and improving performance.
