Hey there, is anyone doing P1 tomorrow? Just wondering how you're feeling about it? My nerves are at me for some reason, doing the best I can though studywise. Just not feeling super confident...

Hey, for some strange reason I feel like I am going to fail this exam. Professional papers are more diffcult than fundamental ones, plus P1 is a lot of theory. Give me some figures instead and ill be in heaven !! lol

Yeah exactly, plus it's easier to study for practical exams, the amount of times I nearly dozed off studying P1! Hopefully that won't happen tomorrow! Best of luck.

I'm doing P1 tomorrow too - I'm not feeling very confident about it. I've practised all the questions I can but I still have so much trouble trying to figure out exactly what the examiner is looking for

Anyway, nevermind I guess, there's always next time!

I hate theory papers too. I'm in P1 tomorro aswell.

Just remember pain in the ass as it is and although I'm not my most confident, the sylabus is small.

If you can justify your reasons for risks, lack of controls, CG failures etc you get the marks even if what you write now isn't in the back of the book which is what keeps throwing me.

Also know the four ethical theories they always come up somewhere, teleological, deontological, absolutist and relativist.

Best of look everybody:D Roll on 1 tomorro!!

So - anyone got any feedback on this? Just made up the answers as I went along really! But fingers crossed it was ok.

It was alright I guess, time was a huge problem for me. I can never understand how the examiner expects you to understand what he's asking and generate the appropriate amount of points in the time given.

I did Q1, Q3 and Q4. My Q4 was terrible because I left myself about 20 mins to do the whole question. I have never had a time problem before and I used to wonder how people could not stick to the time rules (1.7 mins per mark) but I guess I took my eye off the ball....

Marino is way nicer than the RDS, next time I must remember to park near the exit because I was over an hour getting out of there.

Regarding P1 I might have to do it again, given I threw away so many marks on Q4. I'm not too worried about it though (even if my post sounds like I am :D ) - I've just never failed one before.

It could have been worse i guess.

Q1 kohlbergs development stages, IC failures, wide and narrow stakeholders

Q2 - ethical threats, and deep ecologist stance

Q3 - ceo renumeration, chairman role and resp, importance of chairmans statment to shareholders
    Q4 - sth about risk....havent read it

I guess it wasnt diffucult, but still not sure if I pass. Never failed an exam before as well ;] ... but that doesnt mean anything.

I notice you are in Carlow also. I also sat P1. for the third time, the standard has got much higher since June 2008. The last paper was realy a good test of appplication of knowledge. That question on John Rusnac was tough, but it was nice to know that accountants are regarded as having higher ethical standard than banker. I couldn't remember which ones were narrow and wide but i chanced it. If the worst comes to the worst for both of us, let me know, maybe we could get a study group going .... for P1.

    Hi

I was wondering what your thoughts on this subject were..

you said that the syllabus was realtively "small" - so would it be a case of read and re read the main text book for a month or so and then start the past papers?

Is it a subject that really "has" to have lecturer there making sense of the theory for you ...

I as thinking of trying to do this on my own...but don;t want to end up haveing a crisis of confidence and then paying over €300 for a revision course that (more often than not) is useless... I;d rather know in advance and pay the €730 for a whole course ..

This would be my first P paper as well..

Many thanks for any input and best of luck next week for everyone!

    R
