If this weather/rain keeps up its a boat that youll need for Mosney not a car.I was booked to go but alas i have to work.

How will we know if its off?

    LMFM maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

I spoke to the organisers this afternoon, the show is on, subject to an inspection of the ground at 6am tomorrow. It has stopped raining here now, I am only 5 miles away, so it will dry out a bit with some luck.

See you there, I'll be on the Merc stand !

Weather's a bit better to-day, I'm going anyway on a Lambretta, if it gets me there from Kildare.:)

Was in Galway the weekend but wouldn't have gone either way. It tends to be a good show but I begrudge giving them €15 to display my car there. If the money was going to a charity I don't mind, but €15 to display my car that will cost maybe €50 to drive over there to make money for them? I don't think so!

prepayed entry was a tenner and you got a free first aid kit:rolleyes:so it was well worth it.

Whatever - only show I will pay in to is Terenure or any show that the dollars go to charity.

As far as i am aware the money goes to charity,a few years ago this show was cancelled when they were storing refugees there in Mosney and they held the show up further near Ardee in some hospital grounds, the weather was bad the days up to it and the ground was very bad, they decided not to hold it there no more and reverted back to Mosnia but the proceeds go to this hospital.AND YES I HAVE BEEN WRONG BEFORE.

non-prebooked entry fee was €20 which I thought was a bit steep. :(
Durrow was free in for pre '70, as was the Tipperary show and the Limerick show in weeks previous. I don't mind paying a few quid to get in (I think a tenner is a reasonable fee) I think the organisers should realise that there would be no show without the exhibitors and should go a bit easier on them :(

The committee this year decided to drop the per-paid to €10 and up on the day fee to €20 this was to encourage people to per-pay as this stops the traffic delays when entering the show. This worked very well this year as 600 of you pre-booked.
€10 I don’t think is a lot to pay as you get tea & samwedges for two, a finisher’s award (first aid kit) and we also have over 20 best in class awards.

The club has a number of beneficiaries last years beneficiaries were: saint Mary Drumcar hospital, Sane Red Coss, Garry Kelly Cancer Centre, Motoneurons association, Drogheda Irish wheel chair acc, SOFT (a Down Syndrome children charity), children’s ward of Drogheda hospital, MOFFET workers charity walk.

I think it was a good day, and I hope all who attended did as well.

We would ask if there are things that you think can be improved please let us know.
    Thanks
    Éamonn

I would say I am not on the committee this year.

A great day, even the sun came out, and great value for money, and nice to know local charities are benefitting too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

Its definitely good value for money and a great turnout yesterday too !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 142 ✭✭NEVCC

Yea it was a great turnout considering the weather. I think I’m still wet after the Saturday setting up the field.
That was the 25th show and we only had one washout year, which was the year we moved to Drumcar. We have been unbelievable lucky with the weather, there’s the jinx for next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

I was at that Drumcar show, I had to be towed IN to the field by a tractor !! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭bookerboy

Well done to the organisers of this show.It was excellent and great value for money.€10 is nothing and €20 is still great value for money.
People that don't like paying into these shows to display their cars need to realise the amount of time, effort and i'm sure money it takes to run an event like this.
If these organisers stop putting on events like this where will the classic car community go with their cars to meet like minded people.
Car clubs are fine but you see the same people and cars all the time.
Keep up the great work all you show organisers and pay no attention to the negative feedback you see here.
If you don't like a show don't go,no need to tell the world about it.

Enjoyed the show, seemed a bit bigger than previous years. Th 2nd last AM Lagonda to be made was on show, with a 90-CW reg. Must be the only Lagonda in Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭Kevin_Herron

You'd be surprised but there are a few here!

I talked to the owner of that car at the Durrow show. He's had it 6 years and he said he never had to put a spanner to it, utterely reliable. Given their reputation thats saying something. Fantastic motorcar.

Did nobody get into Mosney? To say hello to the refugees???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,543 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Good pics. Going around I thought the Triumph stand looked well with the white TR6s centerpiece.

Also a good showing from the BMC 'farina' cars this year. Did they all come across the water for it?

........my car got sandwiched between a Jag and a Stag. It was the silver 280SE Coupe, parked near the AOVC stand. I wasn't able to move it near the MB club until much later.

Absolutely beautiful car Mercmad. I was the white Stag beside you, with the Stag Owners Club flag, but not in the same league as Jack's.
