    Amazing isn't it. "Southern Ireland" existed as part of the UK from 3th May 1921 to 6th December 1922 - yet the term is still used, so very frequently, by people in Britain today.

    As it goes I'm English - but I've lived in Ireland for getting on 4 years now (and I kinda see things through Irish eyes nowadays). Anyway, sometimes my Dad sends me cards and that, from England, with the address ending as "Southern Ireland" - I cringe when I see it!

    I keep telling him "Dad - Southern Ireland hasn't existed since 1922!", but he still doesn't get it, bless him.
