180km TT has been replaced with 6 hours on the turbo at TT wattage. My hole I'm spending all day in that today. Worst is yet to fall.

6 hours on a turbo ? I thought they'd closed guantanamo ... quality work though without the weather interfering

We should have done the wicklow 200 last week...I'm less enthusiastic about it tomorrow now.

    Looks a bit rough alright.
Thankfully nice and sunny where I am :pac:.

I knocked out a 10km run instead of going for a ride today. Got it done before the heavy fall that seems to be coming down now.

If the weather is like this, I'm not heading out. Done enough miles in the rain and sh!tty weather this year, it's not worth it

All the weather reports seem to be moving in a more optimistic direction now.

Anyone up for making an early morning detour via casa de Tiny if decides to bail?

HTFU folks, it's not even a bit icy.

(Though I would like to backpedal wildly on my previous assertion about doing this in summer gear).

How'd it go down? Let's be having a report! No one here can do a race without doing some kind of report. That's a new rule.

I honestly couldn't tell you much about what happened in the race - bar the fact that for the most part of it I thought someone had failed to mention I was actually signing up for a triathlon...

It was handicapped in to two groups: Cs/Vets/Women and Bs 3 minutes back (i think). I'm not sure if we were caught by the Bs. Saw a lead car come by us, so that would lead me to think yes - but I'm not sure.

I was seeing stars and thought about packing for the almost the entire last 3 laps but ended up hanging on to the bunch til the finish. There were a good few people up the road from what I gather. Have no idea who won. Will find out more in a short while.

After the finish a small group of us were pedalling back to the car park. I tried to say "Jesus - we could have done with armbands or a raft" to the bloke beside me but all that came out was gibberish mumbling. i couldn't string a sentence together.

just talking to someone there who saw the finish. about 10 up the road - Fiachra O'Muire won. They had about 2 mins on the bunch. They got away on around the 3rd or 4th lap. B group did catch us

    From my polar:
    72.5km distance
    34.8km/h average
54% average HR - I flatlined on lap two. :D

    That was fcuking hard

    +1

It took a long time before I could feel my fingers again afterwards.

The 'B' bunch caught us pretty early with Martin Gill (Wexford Wheelers) catching us first from the 'B' bunch as it seemed that he was attacked from them, really awful conditions with the wind, rain and cold made the race to be shorten by a lap while in progress. Only about 20-30 in the bunch at the finished.

The weather reminds of a brutal day not so very long ago when a group of well shall we say disturbed folks went on a nice jaunt over Mt Leinster. My thoughts on cyling back from the feed to the finish was this is dangerous. That would be my view on 2morrow if this keeps up. Not fun and dangerous.*

*this coming from someone who is wussing out tomorrrow.

That is partially my view (aside from the danger). Miserable day on Mt Leinster and Miserable morning on the 300, and I've had enough of sh!t weather cycling!

It will be fine (I keep telling myself that).
Recall how bad the friday before last years ROK was and how worse that the Saturday before last years Sean Kelly was. Tomorrow will be grand.

If not I will be wearing my winter gear, sealskinz, and 2 pairs of overshoes + a buff )and I may not do the 200 - just Sally Gap -Laragh - Cake - Shay Elliot - Slieve Mann - Laragh - Cake - Hot Whiskey - Home.

Should be much better tomorrow, will still be breezy but should be far warmer and drier than today - temperatures here were the same as an average January day believe it or not.
Should be about 8°C warmer tomorrorow and in any sun should be a lot more plesant than the muck out there now.
So no excuses for wussing out tomorrow (I have a sore knee :p )
