Unfortunately, Our government couldn't really care about having programs such as Drivers Ed because tbh as long as they are getting revenue from tax, they couldn't care who is driving on our roads.

However, I think the onus is on such authorities such as the Gardaí & fellow ES such as DFB,NAS etc to get together and make a program that volunteers could deliver to 6th Year students, and only upon succesful completion of this program would drivers be eligible for their driving test.

When their licences are due to expire, drivers would then have to re-sit said program before being eligible to renew, yes it is tarring all drivers with the same brush, but imo it is the only way people would learn.
Seeing as we are a semi-advanced country when it comes to technology, we could use television &/ screens that some schools have now that are used to view films on as part of Film Studies.

This could definitely be possible, funding wouldn't need to be much because the program could be delivered by volunteers from the emergency services ( if willing ) and then the translation of said videos could be done at a low cost , so that there would be no language barriers so to speak ( no pun intended ).

Feasible programme imo , but i wonder would the government listen to us for once?!.

That said , some drivers actually do make an effort to move out of the way for us when we run blues & twos, It's just the minority who don't move that sparks the question of how did they get their driver's licence.
Tbh, we need a '' failure to yield for an emergency vehicle '' fine system. Yes we may have '' failure to obey a direct instruction from a member of An Garda Siochána'' , but it has to extend to other ES.
