around 600 euros for timing belt, tensioner, fan belt, water pump in 2004 daewoo nubira....I think it may be better value just to take my chances with a timimg belt failure, (repair comes in around the same)

There's no way a repair could cost the same as replacing the TB & ancillaries now. Think about it - after removing the head, replacing the bent valves (let's be nice and assume the pistons are ok), skimming the head, and replacing it, what needs to be done next? That's right, replace the TB & ancillaries.;)

How many quotes did you get?

If it's just one, then you have more options than "spend 600 or wait until timing belt snaps".
