Following an election, a party/candidate must remove posters within a seven day period. After that date, an on-the-spot fine of 125 euro is issued by your local authority in respect of each remaining poster. Your local authority will remove the poster as the fine is issued. If a party/candidate has been issued with a fine and refuses to pay, they can be prosecuted in the District Court by your local authority to enforce payment. The maximum penalty in the District Court following conviction for non-payment of the fine is 1,900 euro.

Don't name and shame, this time next week report them to the litter warden.

I'm going to take down as many Fianna Fail ones as I can, and then secretly put them back up in a weeks' time before ringing the litter warden.

They should never be up in the first place, complete waste of money. They'd be better off holding open evenings to meet all your local election candidates and let there be an open forum to debate the issues. Seeing some yokel's face on an election poster isn't going to swing any votes.

Havn't a clue how much is spent, at least sometimes the leaflets are informative,

the posters should be banned though,

there is also a rule that they can't be within so many metres of a polling station come a certain date before the election, this doesn't seem to be enforced either,

not that i believe they sway any voters anyways.

It will be a good money earner in these recessionary times. that's if the councils are bothered to enforce it.

I'm going to super glue all the FG & FF posters to a REALLY high lamp-post. Two birds with the one stone!
