Nice one LW. A grand uncle of mine a Michael Daly from Limerick/Cork who served with the Free State in the Curragh crossed the border with a few mates of his prior to all of this. They joined the British Army and he ended up in the 12th battalion the Devonshire Regiment fondly known as the Devons. In time he found himself on D Day attached to 6th Airbourne Division. And as they say the rest is history.

This I'm sure rings bells all over this country of family members who travelled to fight during WWII. I had the privilege to spend many years with my granduncle. Mick was seriously injured outside the town of Caen with a headwound. He was shifted back to England and spent a long time in an Oxford Hospital learning how to walk and talk. He always said he was one of the lucky ones. He was our family Hero and an inspiration to the rest of our lot, who served abroad and some who still serve here in Ireland in the DF.

Gentlemen, and ladies Lest we forget.

They made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.

    May they never be forgotten.
