Certificate of disposal for scrapping a car.

    Hi,

Quick question. I have a 00 Opel Frontera (I know, I know – a rubbish jeep). Well it died last week – head gasket and other things so it’s not worth repairing as I’ve had nothing but trouble with the engine in it anyway.

Thing is I taxed it for 12 months from may so if I want to get the tax back I would need to get a certificate of disposal and get it scrapped. Are there any places that would pay me something for the jeep and provide a cert of disposal? Where they might use parts or whatever? Or am I lucky I don’t have to pay to get it scrapped?

Any advice welcome? Frustrating not to get anything at all for it. But if that's they way it has to be...ah well.

Unless you can drive or get the car to a breaker's yard yourself I'm afraid they will charge you for coming out and collecting it. I'd say give a few scrap yards a call and see what the story is.
