    I don't agree with the assumption that because we hunt we are precluded from caring about animal welfare! and not allowed comment.

    The welfare of my own animals and the animals I hunt do concern me at all times.

    The hunting community make a lot of the contributions on the Nature and Birdwatching forum.

    its taken as given that we are cruel heartless individuals, but this is far from the case with the majority of hunters!

    I think you guys have this backwards. The idea with the rule change is twofold (from our point of view at least, the mods in Animal Welfare have a mirror image viewpoint I think):

    1) It stops PETA types (whom actual workers in groups like DSPCA have issues of their own with anyway) from coming in here and having a go (or more accurately, it gets them banned from here by us and Animal Welfare by their mods, which I suspect is a greater deterrent);

    2) It stops the likes of the Great Feral Cat Cross-Forum Flamewar before the admins step in to stop it.

    In other words, it's supposed to stop people playing silly buggers. If you're actually using both forums, that's not just perfectly fine, it's what we'd all like to see happening.

    Fair enough Sparks,
    I think the Corncrake thread on this board is a good case in point, no one wants to shoot them, but i think most of us have a huge interest in nature and wildlife and protecting it( no matter how ironic that seems)
