    Hi Folks.

I am getting married in September, and I am wondering about Honeymoon ideas.

I have holidayed in the south of France and Spain several times, and would really like to do a Med based holiday. Approx 2 - 3 weeks longs.

Are cruises suitable for early thirty newly weds :pac:.

I like my comfort but also love the rusticness the Med has to offer.

Can anyone confirm or dispell the "blue rinse brigade" myth. :P

I would love to see as many med based countires as possible.
However I have heard that on cruises it "off in the morning, back on in the evening". I think places usually deserve a bit more than a few hours.

Also, would anyone have any alternative ideas or stories of friends etc that did their own thing in that region?

    Any info gladly welcome.

    Thanks in advance Folks.

As someone who frequents Nice and sees the cruises coming in and out all the time, the impression I get is that it really is off the boat for a few hours, herded around the old town and a bit of a bus tour of the city, then back on the boat.

Age profile varies but Easy Cruise and Royal Carribean seem to have the younger clients (EC isn't really honeymoon material).

Of course, never having been on a cruise, you can take or leave the opinion above, but that's what I see!

^^^^^^^ I agree with previous post

A cruise is like being a bird with your wings cliped. I have done one but that was the caribbean, not so much as the blue rinse brigade but not that far off.

For my 10cents I would concider Croatia. The islands are stunning (Brac & Hvar for example) and friendly and Dubrovnic is a cool city to spend a few days in

Unless you've got a seriously upgraded cabin, I wouldn't like to honeymoon on a cruise ship.

Yes, you'll get to see some fab sights but it is a case of get off in the morning and get back on in the evening - bit too cattletruck like for me.

Depeneds on the cruise line. Avoid HAL (80+ average age) and Easy Cruise (20- average age) and you will be fine.

I wouldn't even think of talking a holiday that wasn't a cruise now.

What's your budget ? and how to you feel about formal (tux for men) dining ?
