Hrm, I dont know what to do. Ive applied for my test and Im looking at an 11 week wait. However my license, first provisional, expires on the 14th of August this year.

Should I apply for a new one just in case? Ive also heard that they wont be issuing licenses after july and will now be issuing 'permits'.

    Any ideas?

I applied at start of feburary and still aint got mine so thats like a 16 week wait already and not having it means another 4 weeks. So think with the Sgs stopping that 11 weeks will go up

The Learners Permit is just a new name for the provisional license, and they've been giving them out for a while! Apply the second one to be safer rather than sorry on the day, it should take less than a week to arrive.

Have you been living on the moon? :D They began issuing Learner Permits on the 31st October 2007!!! ;)

Apply for a 2nd Learner Permit. It will be worth the few €uros for peace of mind.

    Good luck with the test.

IMHO get the replacement for peace of mind.

I applied for my test in mid-May and have been given a date in mid-July in an area with a 12 week waiting list... so the lists vary a bit and it could be shorter than the 11 weeks, if I was you I wouldn't feel comfortable risking it.
