Hi, I'm travelling from Dublin to Las Vegas, with a stop in Philadelphia.
I have two questions regarding checking luggage.

    1. Can i check my bags right through from Dublin to Vegas. The reason i ask is because i heard, when you enter the US, the 1st Airport you land in you have to collect your bags and check them in again to fly to next Airport.

    2. When i "Check in" on line, do i "Check in" twice? 1st to get boarding pass from Dublin to Philadelphia and 2nd to get from Philadelphia to Vegas.

    Thanks for the info.

    1. You will have to collect your bags and bring them through a security check point(boarding pass and passport only) and you will hand them to somebody else or a conveyor belt(whichever) and you will continue along your way back through another metal detector area in case you took something from your checked luggage. Your bags will have a destination of LAS with DUB and PAS as well just to show where to route them.

    2. When you check in you will be given the opportunity to print a boarding card for each leg of the journey, depending on which airline. If you cannot get them online then ask in Dublin airport for them or if they are not the same airline then when you get to Philly ask at the Transfer desk.

From experience I was using Aer Lingus to Singapore Air most recently and Aer Lingus said "Normally I could give you a boarding pass but today I cannot" *Sigh!!

    Cheers Bertie,
I take it i can check in at Dublin Airport so (instead of checking in online)?
This would give piece of mind, as i could clarify with check in crew.

You could, but what clarification do you need?

Assuming you're flying US Airways and you booked it all as one flight, you will get 2 boarding passes when you check-in (on or offline). If not, as Berty said, you'll find a flight connections/transfer desk at Philadelphia who will give it to you - but I'd be very surprised if you can't get it from the start.

You will have to pick the bag up at Philadelphia and drop it off before you go onto your next flight. You don't have to do that on the way back though.
