Stone cottage

    Any advice as to how to proceed with a 100 year old cottage ?
    The walls are at least 600mm rubble built stone. Should I go with one of the defaults within DEAP (say 325 solid) or work out a U value based on the TR of stone.
    Cottage will undoubtedly be a G as it needs alot of work and is assessed for purposes of sale so not alot of work in it but was just curious as to how to proceed, would assume to work out my own U value but has anyone else come across this situation ?

    If its habitable just do it as it stands, use the defaults thats what they are there for, it will most likely be a G, I did my first G rated house a few weeks ago, 1950's mass concrete bungalow with just 100mm fibreglass in the attic!!!(everything else was totally crap!!

    Thanks No 6....Actually I asked before I started the BER and had forgotten there was a stone element to submit so went naturally with that as default, so used to ony doing cavity, concrete and solid you dont even notice other options !!!!
    Interestingly I have done two BER's today, both contrasting in nature which shows for me how flawed DEAP is.
    Firstly the stone cottage which was always going to be off the scale G as it did not even have a boiler for heat or hot water, but was habbitable.
    I did an improvement report to renew floors, install condensing boiler with zonal controls 250mm Rockwool to ceiling etc etc (had already been dry lined in 50mm thermal liner) The very best achievable was an E2.
    By contrast a standard and bare basic 99 constructed cavity build semi was a D1 with little work would reach C3 and could easily attain C2 for very little outlay and maybe better still.
    How can the discrepancy be justified ?
    No work to a semi D....D1
    Everything conceivable to traditonal laid out three room cottage no better than E2.
    The Glitch is the living area fraction high on cottage low on semi but in real terms the house will be expensive to heat whereby the cottage only pennies by comparison.
