Need to do a budget holiday this year. Thinking of starting up north of England, working our way down through Alton Towers, Manchester area and onto London for a few days. Nothing set in stone - just mulling it over at the moment. Wondering if anyone has any advice/tips/recommendations. Need to factor in 2 adults and 1 child (age 12). Any advice appreciated.

Alton Towers is an absolute ball. The kid will love it, you will love it. Stay locally, do 2 days. There's all sorts of deals going. Try for mid-week when it's less busy.
The Trafford Centre near Manchesterunitedtown is a great day for the Mrs. Lots of girlie shops, a fair few techno shops for the lads, lots of good fast food restaurants, not talking about McDs, decent family priced places.
