I used Arachas in Wexford and found them very prompt and friendly.

    + 1

They could not be beaten on price for the amount that they covered

You might try Selfbuild Zone (Hooper Dolan Insurances) as well

Just one thing o be wary of there Poochie. You said that you have already started clearing the site. Some companies may not touch you now because work has technically "started". I am starting next week and this is the same mantra I got from all the companies I approached. Have to say on the company named above, despite many calls/emails and one into their office, I never got a call back. Hib Aviva I found to be very competitive on this one. I am doing a Build/Renovate so different insurance anyway.
    Bset of luck.

I'm using Frost Insurance. I thought they were reasonable.
Plus a friend of mine used them and even though they were well into their build, there was no problem.

I found Hib Aviva fairly good. €1800 for a 3000sq ft house on acre site.
Watch out for different levels of cover between the various companies

Looks like a lot of ye are insuring your site for all personel and all machinery?
would you not just insure it for the house only for fire and storm damage?

If your doing self-build you MUST have site insurance...we did at least with Haven mortgages. Insuring the house alone wont cover you if one of the tradesmen gets injured onsite and they clean you out!

I had a similar experience, but the insurance i got had a "disclaimer" for the works already started. i.e. the foundations were not covered but everything else was, for me the main reason for getting the insurance was liability cover!
