Have flights booked to fly out to Nantes in about two weeks time. A friend of mine is also on the same flight. She mentioned that she had to have a check done on her passport to be allowed to fly to france through the ryanair site, afaik I didn't get a prompt to do this. They say they won't let you fly without this being done. Does anyone know about this ?

She maybe thinking of Spain, where you're required to submit information (called API - Advanced Passenger Information) via the airline before departure. France has no such requirement..

Either that, or she did online check-in, where it does require the passport number.

Yes. You can only do online check in 15 days or at least 4 hours before flying.

Your friend may have done this.

Like above. The API is only required for Spain with Ryanair.

Just back form France with Ryanair and no problem with passport. Be aware that they are very strictly enforcing weight and 1 bag rule in France.
