    Hi all,

    Just a quick question:

When applying for Mortgage Interest Supplement or the Medical Card do you have to drop the forms into the CWO or is there an address you can post them to?

    Thanks.

For the Mortgage Interest Supplement you would need to go to your CWO at his/her clinic & bring all your documentation with you on the day.

They will probably then arrange to call out to your home where they can ask for more documentation/proof etc. if required.

Bear in mind that you will need a copy of your original mortgage application in order for your claim to be considered, so if I were you I’d get on to my lender asap to arrange this as it could take them a few days at least for them to retrieve this for you.

So your best course of action would be to visit your CWO asap & they will tell you exactly what documentation you need. Meantime get the copy from your lender as the CWO’s clinics are only held on certain days of the week.

As for the Medical Card, you can send your application by post to your Health Area Administration Office (HSE) (the address will be on the Application Form that you received from them, or if you downloaded it online you can find out where to post it from your local HSE office, or your CWO should be able to tell you where to post it.

You may want to hold off on applying for your Medical Card until you have your Mortgage Interest Supplement sorted out, as it may save time in the longrun, as otherwise your outgoings may show as more than your income which could cause a delay (redtape).

    Hey Jeckle.

Thanks - your a great help. Form is filled out AFAIK by the mortgage lender with a copy of the appllication so they should prob just go in with it. Worth a try I suppose.

Why do they call out to the house? The claimant is on JA so surely they shouldnt have to call out?

It’s basically a contol issue/red tape so as they can satisfy themselves that the claimant does actually live there, & that the house/apartment has the number of bedrooms that is stated on the application form. It really isn’t much of an ‘invasion of privacy’ in my experience – it’s as much to cover the CWO as it is to check the details that the claimant has supplied.

As it says in another thread here - do they look in wardrobes and the likes to see if there is anyone else living with the applicant??

Not in my experience anyway. AFAIK they only do that sort of thing if they suspect you have lied on your application.
