First Time Cruisers (Maybe!)

I have a couple of weeks off coming up (last week in June/First week in July) and myself and the Mrs are looking to get away for a least a week.

We`ve been toying with the idea of a Med cruise but know absolutely nothing about cruising. I`ve priced up a few options for the dates and they seem reasonable enough - Royal Caribbean have a cruise to the west med leaving Barcelona on June 28th which is working out at €1280 each for an outside cabin not including flights( gott his quote from a travel agent today), which we would have to book ourselves.

At the other end of the scale, I priced a similar(ish) trip leaving from Majorca for around €820 each for an outside cabin, including flights with Island cruises(think they are Thompson related).

I`m also awaiting a couple of quotes from an online site called e-travel.ie.

I`m really looking for general advice from experienced cruisers on anything and everything from the best way to book, to cabin choice etc.

I know Royal Caribbean are well thought of. Should I try and book direct with their site?

Has anyone used Island Cruises? Very cheap but the boat doesnt look as nice.

Has anyone ever used e-travel.ie before? I never heard of them before they came up on google.

We are both in our very early 40s but still quite young at heart. Any tips or advice would be very welcome as we will most likely book in the next day or two.
We have budgeted up to about €1400 each for cruise and flights.

    Thanks.
