    Hi all,

Im currently on Level 1 helpdesk and cautious to move with the recession and all. I just got my MCSA on Friday and did

    70-620: TS: Windows Vista, Configuring
70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment
70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure

    And Security +

I understand Im over qualified for Level 1 but I do not want to sit on my hands and be well certified when things pick up

I hope to do Linux + as advised by a friend

However I also did A+ and Network + as part of my IT Support Diploma but I did not get seperate certification for this just was part of my diploma

Should I do these as well or what about going to do Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician (MCDST) ?

Hope to do MCSE at some stage as well. I wonder is the MCSE in Security a better one to have?

Any thought please on best for CV? I want to do certificates I can always just leave them out but want to be ready for return to good times

    Thanks
    Noel

I'd continue the microsoft route for the moment
    70-293, 70-294 and 70-298.. are very achieveable.

The best thing you can do is keep studying.

Then after you've completed your MCSE I'd start into the MCITP's which replaced the MCSE this year.

You have the vista one done which is cool but Server 2008 is very different.
The trick is pick a product that you enjoy working on and specialise as a MCTS. system Centre products are the way forward.

For more information look for local user groups meet up with Peers and get direction through experience.

Linux skills are great to have you always find there's one server in every place that even the senior people have limited knowlege about.
but you'll find if you dont keep up with them, you forget them very quickly.

I suppose the first question is how many years experience do you have?
A suggestion would be send on a CV and I'll let you know what I think.
Most of my team was made redundant in the last year so I've nothing going at the moment but I dont mind giving advice.
