    Im new to road running I managed 5km in 24 min is this ok and can you also share your times. and if anyone has any advice on getting quicker that would be great.

    That's a very decent time for 5K starting out. Moving this to running as you'll get better advice there....

    How much training have you done, how much are you willing to do?

    If you're a beginner, the basic idea would be to build up your aerobic base to start with. That means just running at a relatively easy pace and increasing the length of time as you improve your fitness. While doing this, you can also do fast strides at the end of your runs to help build speed as well. Because they're short (approx. 10 sec) they won't take much out of you but they are important as if you only run slow, that's all your body will remember.

    As your fitness improves, add in more intense training such as intervals at race pace and at paces slightly above and slightly below race pace.

    If you can find someone to train with that'd probably be a help.

    24min is a good start, well done. If you're wondering what this means in the big picture, some approximate 5k buckets would be:

    25-30 min: jog/walker
    20-25 min: good target for beginners or aging runners
    18-20 min: competitive women or average club runners
    16-18 min: competitive men in local road races
    15-16 min: top class women or regionally competitive men (county level)
    14-15 min: national class male
    13-14 min: international class
