Is it cheaper to book a sun holiday well in advance or last minute?

I want to go on a sun holiday in July with my girlfriend and two kids.

Does anyone know from experience should I try and book the cheapest deal now or should I chance waiting until the week/day before hand to book it?

If you don't care where you go, booking at short notice is the best.

Booking late will save you money because the travel agents have already bought their number of seats on the plane so they NEED to fill them because if they dont then they have to pay for the holiday. :D

However, Budgettravel have been very sneaky recently. Lets say you cancel your holiday because you lost your job. Budget are mad to resell it because they gave you back your money. Somebody arrives in and wants to book it. Budget took a Michael O'Leary approach to it and now charge a "Late booking fee". Can you belive the cheek?

Aertel, Internet, Ringing agents etc is a good way.

Although never trust the price because it rarely includes certain charges and insurances.

Walk around 1 - 1/2 weeks before you want to go and you will find good deals.

    Support your local agent!!

    Also avoid:

    Accomodation on arrival

Second that. It is a recipe for disaster.
