Folks here musta seen this show?....twas like a BIG hit for the BBC, so much so the BBC stepped in and co-financed the show with or networks to save it after it was cancelled.

I remember the ratings at the time were some of the highest BBC2 had, it was a great show with a real wit and good soul. Sure it ripped the piss outta the Canadians...but they loved the show as well!

It was like a bizarre parody of mounties and polite Canadians but it worked, one element unique the show was Diefenbaker...a half wolf being a lead character?....and him HAVING character.

They always worked Dief into the script, where else would you find a deaf wolf who reads lips! :p

It was wacky and weird and alot of fun and i tuned in each week to see what Fraser and Diefenbaker would do next :)

I remember that show. It was so nonsensically ridiculous, I loved it.

Then it all wnet downhill when the American sidekick was replaced by a different actor but in some convoluted way he was meant to be the same person while the real "Ray" was under cover or something .. started to loose it's charm. John Barrowman reminds me of Fraser looks wise.

I used to like this show a lot when it was on. Its quirky nature gave it a nice charm. I agree that when they changed the american side-kick in the second season it took away something from the show. But they explained it really well with Fraser getting dental records, etc for the new guy to prove that he wasn't the original.

It was a bit daft, but used to watch it occasionally, then it ended up being repeated every night when I was working abroad and ended up watching the whole thing and really enjoying it.

(Trivia: it helped me win a table quiz once - the question was what country had a former prime minister called Diefenbaker. Everyone else was guessing Austria or the like and I insisted on Canada. Never admitted how I knew though).

LOVED Due South! I also liked how they changed the main American character. Sometimes characters are just supplanted with new actors with no explanation, so it was a nice touch to acknowledge to the viewers that a change had been made.

Best DS episode EVER was with the Mounties singing on the train. Class.

I was just about the say the best one was the one with the runaway/stolen train. I loved the show but replacing Ray with a better looking one ruined the show because the orig Ray had something the new one didn't... character.
