Which Cabra are you talking about? Everyone isn't from the same place as you...rabble, rabble, anti-Dublin rabble.

Oh I knew exactly where you meant, just from earlier comments in this thread, it seems we need to be very specific when referring to places, even when it is pretty obvious we're talking about...

Lots of stereo typing in this thread, anyone got pics of this bus? :)

I was approached by a Sinn Fein canvasser early today handing out leaflets. I told him I wouldn't vote for any of the current political parties. His response? "Well, I can't really blame you. I'll leave you alone now".

I also find it amusing that a party that once supported a terrorist group is now using the slogan "Fight back. Vote Sinn Fein!". I'm half expecting the Sinn Fein candidates to start brawling their opposition in the streets!

Just shows the voter demographic they are aiming at with a tacky bus driving around playing rebel songs. The same kind of demographic that Hitler got his early support from. Woohoo! My first Godwin!! :D

I think he meant "bang" as in "carbomb" rather than copulation.

At least, I hope he did...

The fact that anyone would vote for mary lou makes me cringe, however being in Connolly station today at 7pm made me cringe also.

What an embarassing sight, not just the 11 year old with his bottle of miller but the employee nodding to a fellow 'lad' waving his bottle of miller also..

The 10% were out on show... at least now i know they exist..

Also god help the libertas folk, hope they enjoyed been brainwashed

Who ever said democracy was right? Not me for sho

Yes, a party with a strong stance against racism, that proposes an amnesty for illegal immigrants and has links with the ANC, PLO and Basques are obviously akin to a bunch of right wing xenophobes.....

Sinn Fein bus, saw this thread again today and the first thing that came to mind was this

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭PrivateEye

Irish politics in general is rife with gob****ery. I find anti-shinner feeling quite funny to observe, I'm on the left but don't vote in parliamentary elections. Sometimes the only thing more annoying than the political parties themselves are those obsessing over them. You'll normally notice on forums like politics.ie a section like the Sinn Féin one will have more anti-SF threads than general discussion ones.
The same kind of demographic that Hitler got his early support from.

What demographic would that be exactly?
    Working class left leaning people?

    Don't think so.

Sinn Féin don't offer ANY viable political alternative, welcomed ICTUs decision to call off their 'Day of Action', and have attempted to push soft middle class (and indeed ex- Fianna Fail members) like Mary Lou McDonald in working class areas (Dublin Central last time around) a tactic that will only result in failure for themselves. They have to accept they take their vote out of more or less one socio-economic group at this rate and not attempt to 'water down' their politics. Ironically, attempts to popularise Sinn Féin have only led to the same 'TERRORISTS!!!1!!' cries from the right and soft-liberal corners and alienation in areas they should be striving. Sinn Féin will lose some of their own core vote because even though they talk about 'fighting back', them (and Gilmores crowd too) have not delivered, and made no real effort to push the unions for real conrete action.

I don't really care if Mary Lou tops the poll, comes last or barely keeps her seat. The fact some sad-cases will literally raise pints to it if she doesn't get elected says plenty but.

Basically, stop getting your knickers in a twist over Sinn Féin. Do the same people still sh/te on about Gilmores mates in the stickies? Probably not.

    ----

    Proof of gob****tery being cross-party:

I'm voting for SF either way. Bus or no bus!

But, one of those airplanes with the smoke coming out of the back of them sketching "Votáil SF #1" into the sky would be deadly!
