Fixing Printer

    Can someone help me!

I've been looking for places that will fix my printer but I can't find any.

    I have a Copier-Scanner-Printer Brother DCP135.

I am using a new Brother cartridge but for whatever reason.

I did everything the guy on customer care said I should do, he thought thus that the sensor was broken and not picking up the cartridge.

Could anyone possibly offer me some advice as how I myself might go about repairing it?

I don't have enough money to get a brand new printer, and I need to use a printer soon.

where abouts are you? A couple of the Recharge shops do printer repair.

I'm in Cork. My local Recharge shop doesn't perform Printer Repairs.

    This is really annoying!

It will be a HELL of a lot cheaper to buy and new printer then get it repaired.

    bah, that's a pitty.

BOFH_139, recycling and all that, plus why waste valuable monies :D

Humm thesecretforme did the customer care guy tell you to clean off the contacts on the cartridges and where you slide them in? Could be ink, dirt, dust etc... preventing contact. No harm to give it a try, couple of cotton swabs, make sure it's powered off when you're messing about with it. I don't know your printer that well, if the cartridge holders slide out when you lift the lid, or if you can see them to put them in. but if they slide out (when powered on) disconnect the power for your own safety.

What are the exact details of what is happening? Is it printing anything?

Might be able to help you out if you give some more details.

Does it seem to be printing as normal but shooting out blank sheets?

It's not printing. It won't print because it thinks it's missing a black cartridge but it's not.

The cartridge is in and it's brand new the right cartridge but for whatever reason it just register this.

    @thesecretforme
Can you pm me your details and i can look after this for you.

My name is Darren Brooks I am the Head of Customer support for Brother Int in Ireland and would like to see what we can offer here.

I will need your Phone number, name, email & serial number (to see if there is any warranty left) can you also advise as to when you purcahsed the machine.

I "might" be in a position to do something

The fault more than likely is a sensor and it might need replacing.

PM sent to OP for same information

    Thanks for replying, much appreciated.

Can I replace the Sensor myself?

I think it has to be the sensor I have tried everything else.

I'll get the serial number and get it back to you, but I am fairly sure it's out of warranty. I bought it about 2 years ago now just before Christmas.

    Thanks
    Frank

@thesecretforme - It really isn't a good idea to post up your contact details. You should really use the pm function.

Can you please help me Darren,

I have the exact same printer and the exact same problem. I have tried several differant black carteridges. The only time I can printoff black is by changing the black color to slightly off black (which somebody told me is actually using the other colors).

I have tried cleaning it several times (as manual states) with the ink management function. Sometimes it prints off half decent but never satisfactory. Its like theres a near empty black ink cartridge in the machine.

Bought my ink off inkjet.ie and have no trouble with the other colors!!
