I heard that the Forum are going to run the Laughter Lounge in Waterford. Anyone know if this is true. Went to see it in Dublin a few months back, great night out. Hope its true, give us something different to do.

what kind of acts can we expect though? I mean imo there simply nothing worse then a bad stand up comedian.

Is the city big enough for 2 comedy clubs?

We already have one in Revolution.

I've been to the odd few in Revolution over the years and they were not exactly packed out.
What will be the difference between Revolution and the Forum?
Surely they will have the same acts as there doesn't seem to be a huge flow of comedians around Ireland and also foreign comedians coming to Waterford.

I remember Billy Connolly down at the Forum in the early 90s, now that was a top notch show to go to. Then they redesigned the forum and apparently no big acts would come because the venue was too small. So I was told when I emailed the forum asking how come we don't get big comedian acts anymore.

They are ok, but a lot are new people on the circuit so I suppose it is the launch pad before going to compete in the big festivals to win recognition awards etc.

The worst type of comedian is someone who lingers on to insulting the audience when they come on stage. I've seen that a lot with newbie comedians. It gets cringey cause you can tell they are not doing it well.

You should go to the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival next year. It is really good and there is a great buzz around the city for the whole weekend. Make sure you visit the website in mid April then you get the choice of acts you want to go see and your choice of date/time. Tickets sell out really fast in May.

From what I hear it should be a good night out. No kids I was told and platters of food available for the tables as well. Sounds good to me!

Until the comedian comes out with a little gem and everyones laughs aloud. One person sends a mouthful of chewed potato wedge straight into the hair of a girl in front of him. Her boyfriend is none too pleased and starts having a go back. Suddenly, there's a full scale riot about to take place, when Sully appears from nowhere, defuses the situation and bans the comedian for starting the whole sorry episode.

Someone sent me an email with this on it...

    Launch Night Offer

2 for the price of 1 for the Launch month of June when you book your tickets by ringing 051-871122 or calling into the off licence beside the forum & quoting the code LL6

I just rang and they couldnt tell me the acts that will be playing. I'm gonna get two tickets anyhow. I like something different. The opening night would want to be good or else it will flop and I'm sure they don't want that.

    BFG

its a bit stupid not announcing the performers beforehand though surely? Not really enticing people to go

Just got a ticket for Sat night. They tell me Steve Cummins is MC for the night and Eric Lawlor playing with some others. I have seen both Cummins and Lawlor before and can confirm they are very funny! :D
List will be in the papers each week, I was told.

Saw Damien Clarke at the Cat Laughs, he was full of energy but wasnt my favourite comedian I saw. I wouldnt be pushed seeing him again.

I agree, I wonder if they want to try keep it a mystery t build up hype. If you know the comedians you might dismiss going if the line up is not your favourite. Just me guessing out loud.

Well we had a great laugh there. Nice spot for it aswell, makes a change from the normal pub scene. The acts were great, not Billy Connolly but what do you expect. The acts will be advertised in the local papers each week is what i was told when I asked last night.
    Going again next week!
